Too many projects are WIP

Mystery Stole - Clues Completed: 3 1/2

I am continuing to work on my Mystery Stole. We were just given Clue #4 yesterday morning, but I am still working on Clue #3. I have done 3 1/2 charts. You can see that I have completed Clues 1, 2, 3 on the left hand side and only 1, 2 on the right hand side. The middle of the stole is the red/blue/green yarn (which I am using for Ella- Lorna's Laces Tuscany).

I have not shown other WIP that I have...mostly due to the heat and not "planning" the completion date very well.

Lady Eleanor - Scarf Style
This is Lady Eleanor from Scarf Style. This entrelac pattern is fun to knit. I am probably 3/4 of the way done, but it got hot...other things came up...so I have put it down for a bit. My co-workers got me a gift certificate this past December, so I splurged and got some Noro Silk Garden yarn. I was going to make a turtleneck sweater, but living in Florida and not having the chance to use it much, I decided on Lady Eleanor. This colorway is #110. Beautiful colors!

Katy - Debbie Bliss

It has been a while since I have worked on this. I believe that I have both the front and back completed as well as both sleeves. All that is left to do is seam it together and knit the V-neck band.

Katy from Debblie Bliss Cotton Angora...knit in DB Cotton Angora, color Wine. The yarn is very soft and I learned how to create ALL those cables without a cable needle.

In Loving Memory with some bears....

My sister's mother-in-law passed away on Saturday. She had a long battle with cancer and is finally at peace. She was a wonderful person, very giving, loving, kind, etc. She loved my son and I. My son said that everytime he has chocolate he is going to remember her. She always gave chocolates as gifts....great chocolates too! She was an avid Gator fan and loved her family and grandchildren. She was 61. Too young.

Margaret Battenfield...may you rest in peace...you will be missed but always remembered and loved.

Knitty Gritty has been showing some new episodes. Last week's topics were charities. They made a bear for the Mother Bear Project that I thought was adorable. I wanted to do something for my niece and nephew to remember their grandmother. So, I decided to make them bears. Can I just say how much fun this was? I felt like my own grandmother, my dad's mom, who used to love making dolls. She made beautiful things from sewing. I am going to make some more for charity.
The funeral is tomorrow and I worked all weekend on these two bears. Did you notice the Gator colors? In loving memory of Margaret...

Mystery Stole - Clue #1

I finished the first half of Clue #1 and now need to go in the opposite direction. This turned out beautiful! Now that I have the pattern figured out, I should be able to finish the second half in a couple of days.

Beautiful pattern! I can't wait to see how it is all going to turn out....

Yarn Aboard 2!

Well, I joined by first swap. This is called Yarn Aboard 2. It is different in that a box is sent with goodies to one person, they then collect items and put them in the SAME box for person #2, and so on, and so on. Sounds like fun!

Hopefully, I'll get my yarn today for the Mystery Stole 2 KAL. I am itching to start knitting before Friday, when the second clue comes out.

I got my yarn!!! Woo Hoo! Now I can get started. I'll post some pictures soon...

IK Fall Preview...

The Interweave Knits Newsletter has a link to the IK Fall Preview. There are lots of beautiful things in cables...which is my new thing. Here are some of the items that I MUST knit!

Saffron Cables
Kathy Zimmerman

Yarn Valley Yarns Berkshire (85% wool, 15% alpaca; 141 yd [129 m]/100 g): #12 orange, 18 skeins. Yarn distributed by WEBS.

I have been looking for a blanket/afghan to knit. This is absolutely gorgeous! I wouldn't do the orange, but probably a deep blue/red.

Coral Crossing
Jennifer L. Appleby

Yarn Zitron Ecco (100% merino; 120 yd [110 m]/50 g): #120 coral, 11 (12, 13, 14, 15) skeins. Yarn distributed by Skacel.

This looks like a great sweater for work.

Equinox Yoke Pullover
Michele Rose Orne

Yarn Classic Elite Inca Alpaca (100% alpaca; 109 yd [100 m]/50 g): #1108 lamas heather (dark purple-brown heather; MC), 6 (7, 8, 10, 12) skeins; #1153 damask red (dark burgundy), #1123 garland green (dark olive), #1117 gold finch (pale yellow), #1176 gaucho gray (medium gray-green heather), #1158 rio red (medium red), #1198 persimmon (orange-red), #1109 Peruvian earth (dark gray-brown heather), #1114 partridge (light tan heather), and #1155 harvest bounty (red-brown heather), 1 skein each.

I have been wanting to learn how to knit Fair Isle and have always admired Yoke pullovers. I love that the sleeves also have the Fair Isle work. Beautiful!

Sienna Cardigan

Ann E. Smith

Yarn Blue Sky Alpacas Worsted Hand-Dyes (50% alpaca, 50% wool; 100 yd [92 m]/100 g): #2010 terra-cotta, 9 (10, 11, 12 ,13) skeins.

I have been looking for another cable cardigan to knit...for myself. This one has definitely possibilities as it has what I have been looking for...simple cables with a V-neck collar. Very nice....

Supernova Pullover
Norah Gaughan

Yarn Berroco Ultra Alpaca (50% alpaca, 50% wool; 215 yd [198 m]/100 g): #6251 green olive, 7 (8, 8, 9, 10, 11) skeins.

I love the top of the pullover. It looks very similar to the top that Grumperina made from Norah Gaughan's new book, Knitting Nature.

That's all folks! I hope that you also find some inspirational knits with this new edition. Plus, did you notice that IK is going to have a special edition for Holiday Knits! Awesome for gifts!

Bristow - In progress....

As promised here are some pictures of Bristow. I have finished the back, and two fronts. All that's left are the sleeves!

Weight Watchers

I am on a diet...again...with Weight Watchers. They really are the best. I have lost weight with them in the past. The reason I like them so much is that it teaches you to eat "properly"...I need to get back on track. I don't go to the meeting, but do the online version and works well for me. I'm back on the treadmill too. I added the Ticker tape at the top of the blog to keep me motivated. Wish me luck!

Mystery Stole KAL 2006

I just joined the Mystery Stole KAL 2006. I must be crazy! I have too much knitting going on:

  • Bristow - I have done the back, right side, and am almost done with the left side. Pictures to follow....
  • Jaywalker's #3 - Almost done with the first sock. I need to finish this weekend because I go back to Atlanta next week. I like to knit socks when I travel.
  • Ella - Almost done...as previously posted. I haven't picked it up since then. After I finish the left side of Bristow, I will finish it.
  • Washclothes - As previously posted, I got more yarn...just need to keep going as time permits.
I think what intrigues me about the Mystery Stole KAL is that it is a mystery and you get bits and pieces as you go. It was created by Melanie of Pink Lemon Twist (same author of Bristow...which BTW is very well written). I couldn't find the yarn...Jaggerspun Zephyr...but finally found it on Ebay
