Need another project for Memorial Weekend

I finished the Jaywalker's for my best friend. They turned out nice. Now I need to make some for myself.

I am going to Crescent Beach for Memorial Day weekend with my family. My father turns 70 this year so we are all getting together to celebrate. But, I needed a knitting project for the beach. CeCe would have been ok, but I needed something a little bit more mindless. So....I started the Ella shawl. It is from Knitty.com. I am using Lorna's Laces Shepherd Worsted in Tuscany. I love this yarn! Needle is Addi Turbo, size 8.

I joined the Ella KAL. While searching through the site, I found an Excel Spreadsheet that someone created for the shawl. Amazing! I downloaded it and made some changes. What a great idea! I will definitely remember this when knitting other items.

CeCe, Jaywalker, Mason Dixon Knitting, Vegas

It has been about a week since I last posted. I HAD to go to Vegas for work. It is a tough life. The best part of going, was the long plane ride from Orlando. I had uninterrupted knitting time. It was wonderful! I started and "almost" completed Jaywalker #2. I am making a set of Jaywalker socks for my best friend. I am addicted to the pattern. Jaywalker #2 is, again, using Blue Moon Fiber Arts yarn. This time it is Carbon Dating. The colors are a deep purpley red, teal, dark and light gray and a touch of a mustard yellow. I love the texture of the yarn and the stitch definition.

I started working on CeCe from Chic Knits. I was looking for a
pattern that had some lace, but what really sold me was that it was knit in Rowan Calmer. I love this yarn! I first experienced it when knitting the Shedir hat for my sister's mother-in-law who has been diagnosed with lung cancer. She is not doing well BTW. She is a wonderful person and it saddens me that she will not be here long enough to see her beautiful grandchildren grow up. They are going to miss out on her loving and giving personality.

I went to the library today..it has been a LONG time since I have been there. School is out in a couple of weeks and I want my son to continue reading throughout the summer. He is in the 3rd grade and had a wonderful teacher who taught him the love of reading. I "used" to be an avid reader...that is...until I started knitting. But, we are going to the beach for Memorial Day weekend, and I have to have something to read. Although, I have been seriously contemplating taking some knitting projects and knitting while on the beach! I think that it would be great. But I know my extended family is going to laugh at me. Too bad! They are just jealous that they don't have a great hobby like I do.

Back to my story...anyways, while I was at the library, I had to go and see what they had in the knitting section. There was really not much, except for...the new Mason Dixon Knitting book. It really has some great patterns plus I love the style and content (notice the library bar code at the top). Knitters of all experience levels will enjoy this book. I encourage you to go and check it out.

Ok, that's all I have for now. Have a great Mother's Day weekend

New Project - CeCe and ongoing...

I started a new project...not that I need to...CeCe . I am using Rowan Calmer. I have been
looking for a summer sweater with some lace. I like that it is an open cardigan with lace,
but I may make it long sleeves. I'll post some pictures later.

I finished one Jaywalker sock. I have a business trip coming up early next week to Vegas for a convention, so the second one is part of my traveling projects. I have to knit when I am on the plane. I download knitting podcasts to my Ipod...I love Cast On...and knit away. There are so many new knitting podcasts. I'll have to spend some time this weekend listening and downloading.

Anyone re-reading Da Vinci Code? I downloaded the Audiobook and have been listening to it.
I am trying to get it all in my mind before I see the movie.

That's all for now...need to get to work.

Somewhat Cowl - Almost Done

I am almost done with the Somewhat Cowl...Cowl part needs finishing. I got distracted with the
Jaywalkers. The pattern calls for 6 inches for the Cowl, but that seems a bit much.
